Liberia Election: Hon. Adekoya Congratulates George Weah



Lawmaker Representing Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, Honourable Adesegun Adekoya has congratulated the newly elected President of Liberia, ace footballer, George Tawlon Oppong  Ousman Weah, saying his victory at the keenly contested poll is a clear sign of hard work, resilience and consistency.

According to Aremo Adekoka, George Weah's victory after twelve years of trials is an encouragement to several Africa's younger generation and an indicator that being consistent pays off in the long run.

He however advised the new Liberian President to use his wealth of experience as an international footballer and a widely travelled African to bring the much needed development to the people of Liberia.

His words: "I congratulate you on behalf of myself, my family members and the good people of Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside Federal constituency of Nigeria because we share part of a Common history. You need to be reminded that in the troubled years of the Liberian civil war, a dark but better forgotten years of country's history, Oru-Ijebu Ijebu-North Local Government Area of Ogun State which is part of my Federal constituency played host to thousands of refugees Liberia, many of who still reside in the community and have become very responsible members and residents of the community"

"I share with you in the joy of victory, just as I have hope you will keep up the flame of trust reposed in you by Liberians who willingly submitted their franchise to you during the elections"

"It is my fervent hope that you will remember my advise when I, together with some other friends and colleagues hosted you during your 50th birthday last year in Abuja and your promise to visit the communities that hosted Liberian refugees during the country's trying periods and the Civil war if and when you win the elections".
