Adieu Yinka Odumakin, by Segun Showunmi.

We lost Yinka Odumakin to the cold hands of death, and suddenly, the realisation of how flitting life is dawns on everyone.

I suppose it’s because Yinka was out there throughout his life, championing issues that mostly border on the Yoruba Nation with the platform of Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba organization that dates back to the time of Obafemi Awolowo.

It is so painful to come to terms with the fact that one of our most sure-footed fighters is no more. Indeed, all souls must taste death and Yinka has gone the way of all mortals. What a man, what a comrade, what a patriot!

May Joe, his lovely wife, and son be comforted by the fact that he lived a life of purpose, and he has now gone to take a rest, from the struggle and strife.

The Afenifere leadership and all members of the cadre, please accept my sympathy on this truly irreplaceable loss. Egbon Yinka, fare thee well. May your soul rest in perfect peace.
