End Police Brutality Protest: Time To Fix Nigeria, Ogun IPAC Boss, Adedamola Adesina

As Nigerians begin to protest nationwide against police brutality, the Chairman of Ogun State chapter of Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Asiwaju Abdulateef Adedamola Adesina, has urged the Federal Government to look into the demands of Nigerians and act as appropriate.

The Egba born politician said sectarian agendas, distrust and conflict, promoted by individuals in positions of authority, have prevented our country from becoming a nation with any unity of purpose, describing police brutality on Nigerians especially the youths who are leaders of tomorrow as  "barbaric".

"The chance we need to put an end to police brutality has come. Our youths have woken up from thier slumber. They are now peacefully and constructively demanding a better Nigeria. The government must come to negotiation table with our youths. Extrajudicial killings and harassment by the police who are meant to protect us must be put to an end in Nigeria.

"This is the time to brush politics aside and come to negotiation table. A lot of things still need to be fixed in this country. It will be dangerous if we did not swiftly attend to the yearnings of our children who have been protesting for over a week now, for a total eradication of the Police brutality on the populace and for the government to engage in reforms that will usher in a better condition of service for the force. Also, the immediate and unconditional overhaul of the Scio- Political and Economic Infrastructure of Nigerian State!

"To our youths, let it remain a peaceful protest, it is the only way the government can entertain our demands. We sympatize with the family of the ones we have lost to police brutality, may God rest their soul peacefully.

"On #FixNigeria I stand," he said.
