Operation Amotekun - SouthWest Governors, Leaders Deserve Commendation.... Fabiyi

The security initiative by the Southwest Governors should be commended and not condemned by any right thinking person or groups.

The Nigeria police and indeed all other conventional security agencies should offer adequate support and cooperation to ensure that it succeeds.

When I first heard about the initiative,  I felt it was one of those jokes around, but to see it launched and official take off is a cheering news and delightful.

The Givernors and Leaders of the zone have a duty to protect the people and properties of region. Without security there can be no peace , development, unity and progress, therefore, it is a right step in the right direction.

I wish to however urge the Governors and other leaders alike in the region to ensure that as security is being given this priority, other areas of concerns that really matter and germaine to the people of the region like education, power and economic integration and development should also be given adequate attention .

For instance, the need for a regional  transportation network is very critical , a railway network that connect the entire region for easy movement of people, goods and services is very fundamental.

The Southwest has only one fully functional international airport in lagos there is nothing stopping the region to have other airport working, that will guarantee movement of products and people to the rest of the world. This can be achieved regionally.

The Southwest is privileged to have the seaport in lagos , others seaports can be developed in states like Ondo that is riverine. This need for integration and cooperation can never be over stressed, lagos is being over stretched, the only way the region industrialization appetite can be served and satisfied is to further promote cooperation as being witnessed in the security initiative of operation Amotekun.
I sincerely urge other region of the country to emulate what these forward looking Governors of the Southwest have done. The difference will begin to manifest soonest.
